Question of the day: What can one does in a shopping complex when she has sprained her ankle and got two nice wounds on her knees?;)
My answer: Well, since she cldn't really walk or shop despite being in a shopping complex, she was designated to get herself one nice meal treat after all the wretchedness. And thus comes my epicurean diary I.=D
Together with my sis, i went to Sakae Sushi @ Subang Parade for dinner on friday evening, 4th September after visiting doc for my poor ankle. That's our first time to dine in Sakae Sushi together. (Ahh...my dear sis has alwiz been the best accompany i could ever get to dine together. But too bad, even tho she dsnt grow fat despite being quite a glutton, i do. Significantly. T_T) We spent around $80, but do think its worth it. Afterall I shouldn't defy god's will of taking me to Parade with my ankle sprained. XD
Didn't take pics for all that we have ordered, but still managed to capture quite a few.=)Its chicken kaminabe on the left in the pic above. A paper steamboat with chicken and assorted vege in the steaming hot kaminabe soup. I don't favour dishes with onion (with several exceptions, of course) but trust me, the soup was good with the rings of onion in it. Theres also beancurd and some mushrooms (erm, i reli don't noe what r their names in eng, so, 金针菇and 香菇) in it in addition to chicken cutlets which was tender. If you like dishes which are not heavily flavoured, this clear kaminabe soup might be a good choice that you would want to try. Its $16.090.
The sushi on the right is Fruitti Maki. Tiny pieces of mango and avocado were used (as you can see, the yellow and green thingy on top of the sushi) while salmon in the centre and fish floss coating around actually play the major role (erm thats wad i think personally). Seriously think that the salmon inside is sashimi. $12.90M gna do it clockwise starting from the green plate. Kakiage - Shredded vege tempura drizzled with teriyaki sauce. Believe or not, it was scrumptious - and it costed us onli $1.90. Among the vege used are carrot, aubergine and green capsicum. Salmon Chicken Maki - Salmon mayonnaise, cheese and shrimp roe on top. Quite a delightful one but nothing reli special. $5.90. Soft sheel crab maki - Coated with sesame. A bit not up to par for a soft shell crab dish but not too letting down either. It was $3.90. And owh, we both ordered hot green tea (or genmai tea-as it is in the menu??=S).
Baked kim-cheese scallop. Its scallop (I think it was coated with flour mixture-i noe dough refer to those stiff enuf to knead and i don't noe whats e name for the one which is more runny-before being fried) baked with kimuchi and cheese. Shrimp roe is used and the dressing is spicy mayonnaise which didnt seem to be spicy at all to me. Juz very slightly. It costed us $14.90 and i sincerely advocate trying-if u love scallop and cheese. M a lover of both so despite being a bit burnt, It was still fantastic to me. Thumb up for this.=D
We have also ordered Kappa Maki (the classic japanese cucumber sushi) and mini ice-cream daifu. We both liked the cute little gnocchi-looking ice-cream coated with a glutinous surface.
Lastly, theres a little bit of homework for myself to do:
Objectives:
i. To understand the reason/theory of why the paper does not burn into ashes and what sort of material is that.
ii. Find out what's the translucent crystalline 'stones' that was lighted up as fuel and burned for at least 45 minutes as well as the chemistry behind it.
I think I gotta wait for several months before we have to money and chance to dine in one nice restaurant again. Anyone knows the science behind the paper steamboat?? Do tell me.=)
